About my Scrambler

Scrambler Owners Association
GREAT 8 Restoration/Raffle Project
1982 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler

Founded in 2002, The Scrambler Owners Association (SOA) is a group of people who all share a passion for the "long Jeep", the CJ8 Scrambler.  The SOA's goal is to promote fellowship within the small Scrambler community.  With that in mind, this nationwide group of Scrambler owners decided to work together to build/”resto-mod” a CJ-8 to like new condition with some 21st century upgrades.   Proceeds from this will be donated equally between St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Blue Ribbon Coalition. ( www.stjude.org) (www.sharetrails.org)

The “SOA Great 8 Restoration Charity Project” was launched in the summer of 2005.

This has truly been a national project-

The rolling chassis was built in Richmond, VA.

The body was mounted on the rolling chassis at the 3rd National SOA Scramble in Moab, UT, in June of ’06.

The final assembly was done in Kansas in the spring of ‘07.  We can’t say that members from all 50 states have worked on it, but we had help from members in many of them!

As you can see from the picture, this is one great looking ‘8.  The total estimate of volunteer donated man hours runs into the thousands of hours.

What is this Scrambler worth?  It is really priceless, but if you were to try to do all that has been done to this know that shops that specialize in restorations of Scramblers list the beginning price for a frame off restoration at $35,000 on their websites.  This Scrambler is that and more.  The people who worked on this are Scrambler owners and did the work out of their love of this unique vehicle.

This piece of Jeep history will be given away at the 5th Annual National Scramble  during the weekend of June 21st, 2008 at Clayton OK.

The lucky individual who wins this CJ-8 Scrambler will own one of the nicest examples in the country, if not the world!  The intention was to have a street-drivable rig that would also be very capable off road.  You might not want to run it up Rattle Rock at Coal Creek Off Road Park in Windrock, TN, but it will take you up a lot of other tough trails!
