It's a 1990 YJ that i cut in half and stretched the tub 15" so i could install a 2003-2006 Unlimited top. The stretch also helped to make room for the long pinions on the 404 unimog axles. I fabricated and TIG welded a new frame out of 2"x4"x3/16" rectangle tubing. The frame follows the stock dimensions but i built it one inch wider and welded the body mounts on one inch higher to make room for the new drive train. After figuring out the correct geometry, I fabricated the suspension links, brackets and mounts. The joints for the links are Ballistic Fab 3" forged joints and the front 3rd link upper uses two 1 1/4" hiem joints. The axles are 404 unimogs w/7:56 to 1 gear ratio and factory lockers. The lockers are now actuated with air cylinders and i converted the trucks A/C compressor to an air compressor and added a 2 1/2 gallon storage tank.
The axles are converted to 8 on 6 1/2 with the kit from Exact. The brakes are F350 front calipers and rotors on all four corners. The master cylinder is a 1 ton dodge unit. I used a hydro-boost off of a 2001 Escalade. The wheels are Hummer 12 bolts with dual bead-locks and rock rings. The tires are 44"x 19.5"x 16.5" Pitbull Rockers.
I fabricated the roll cage out of 1 3/4" x .120 wall DOM tubing and had to make it work with the TJ door surrounds. The cage is tied to the frame in six places with polyurethane bushings to isolate vibrations. The skid plates are 1/4" AR500 plate. I fabricated and TIG welded an aluminum fuel cell and built a steel skid plate for it.
The engine, transmission and transfer case are out of a 1995 chevy 3/4 ton p/u truck. I mounted them two inches toward the passengers side to help with the drive line angles. I used the trucks wiring harness and tied it into the jeeps harness to get everything working properly.
The doors are from a TJ and i had to fabricate two new striker plates to get them to work. The windshield frame had to be modified to work with the LJ top.
I fabricated the front fenders after cutting 3 1/2" out of the hood to keep the center of gravity low. I trimmed the rear wheel wells as high as possible and made fenders that are removable in case they get damaged.
I used Summit brand base coat/clear coat and painted it metallic silver.
